Steel / words / 2014 / Tote

October 22, 2014

So far away
The sun beams
Steal us away

In concrete gutters
We skip and play
So wasted

You sell houses
And I am a wealthy
Prospective buyer

We stroll down heavy
Streets and look over
Cobble-stone driveways

Maybe we’ll find a match
And will live happily ever
After and after

Oh look a church
How saintly and
Majestic

Shelled in stained glass
We walk around but
Do not enter

You never told me that you studied them

Here, we can lie down here in the
Cool grass for a while and maybe
Hold each other

But not too close

We head to the water
How am I so drunk?
Now these ducks belong here

And if you look close enough
You can see where they are
Made

So close to you
I feel so very close to you
And blue

On a bench we talk
Words and beats not
Streets and sheets

And I learn here that you
Are my teacher, teaching me
About me and of all these things

On to the dog park you
Unleash the leash to
Your most beastly of beasts

I admire the gait
And claws, the running
Paws

And I stand in awe
As I am one of yours

Pored and poured over

And wonder if we’ll
Ever finish that story
And if everything

Will turn out OK
Like they do in those movies
We never got to watch

The sun sets and my
Buzz weakens and we set
Back into town

We careen hills like an Olympic sport
Where were these manufactured?!
So many. Too many for my drunk ass

I want pizza from a hot stone stove on the corner

We wait for meat and flour to fry and bake
Heartily on a most perfect afternoon
And I don’t know it yet

But I already miss you.
